Vaishali Mehta, co-founder of Swa, a Bangalore-based women-run initiative that handcrafts artisanal syrups, is upbeat about more natural concoctions making their presence felt in party circles. Mehta says that in India, most beverages use artificial concentrates and preservatives in the name of exotic flavours. “Our company brings locally grown ingredients including jamun, jackfruit, kokam, bird’s eye chilli, passion fruit into beverages,” she added.
